Description:
Translating to The Way of Kicking and Punching, Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that is also a very popular Olympic sport.
The class itself focuses on proper techniques, terminology, modern sparring, and traditional forms for its foundation. Students will learn a variety of techniques to drill for sparring, stances, as well as learn about control and confidence to maintain a healthy spirit.
This is a beginning class, no experience necessary.
Pre-requisites:
- None
Equipment (students must purchase for class):
- Mouth guard and Padded cloth Shin/Instep Guards
- A uniform consisting of White t-shirt and Black pants/leggings
What You Will Learn:
- Traditional Kicking, Punching, and Blocking Techniques
- Traditional/Modern Footwork
- Proper Pad holding for teammates
- Foundational Sparring Strategy
- How to perform the first Poomsae (form)
What To Expect:
- This class is rooted in traditional values and techniques that we gear towards light-contact modern sparring. During class safety is top priority and safety equipment is used at all times. During Sparring there is no contact to the head allowed, and hard sparring is not permitted. This is a sharing of knowledge, and respect is to always come first.
