Scuba Diving

KNSFHP 1139.01 (1 credit)

Description:

The Scuba II course is a continuation of the skills learned in the Skin and Scuba Diving Course.  It is meant to be completed for the purpose of obtaining open water scuba certification or serve as a refresher course for those who have not dived in the past 6 months.  This course does not meet on a regularly scheduled basis, instead it meets for a few specific dates to complete certification requirements.

This course is taught entirely off campus to complete Open Water dives for scuba certification.  4 Open Water dives are required for certification.  Only 2 Open Water dives are required for those participating in a refresher course.  Your grade will be evaluated on a combination of participation, knowledge assessments, and skills in regard to scuba diving.

  • Attendance is mandatory for all selected dates. If a student is ill he/she may select another date if one is available, if no dates are available then he/she will receive an incomplete for this course
  • Class room session times, locations, dates, trip dates, and fees are subject to change. There will be no refund of deposit or trip fee if this is required. A current OSU e-mail address will be used to contact all students enrolled in a class for notification of any changes

Pre-requisites:

  • Credit for KNSFHP 1179 within the two previous semesters, or equivalent, and permission of instructor

Equipment (students must purchase for class):

  • The cost for Open Water Certification is $300 while a refresher course will cost $150
  • All scuba equipment is provided for the student. You will need to provide a water, wrist slate, and pencil.  Personal equipment is acceptable to use if you have your own.  Students must provide their own meals and transportation to the dive sites.
