Intermediate Wall Climbing

KNSFHP 1141.02    (1 credit)

Description:

In the intermediate course, students who have the climbing basics down get to take these skillsets to the next level. We review training approaches for climbing, explore lead climbing, and dive further into developing technique. Climbers assess their skillsets and establish individual plans to advance their climbing.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must have taken 1141.01

Equipment (students must purchase for class):

  • None

What you will learn:

  • Safety
  • Selection and use of equipment
  • Various knots
  • Types of climbing
  • Bouldering
  • Belaying
  • Climbing techniques

What to expect:

  • You will be actively engaged in the drills and activities of the sport.
  • Your instructor will be assessing your skill progress throughout the semester.
  • Attendance and participation are a key component of the grade.
  • You will have a midterm and a final exam.
