Featured Course – Strength Training

Good news everyone!  Starting in Autumn 2017, students will be able to take Strength Training (KNSFHP 1148.04) as a stand-alone class!  Previously, students who were interested in taking any of our 1148 courses were required to take an 1147 class during the same semester.  This will no longer be the case starting this fall.

If you are interested in working out AND getting academic credit for it, then you should sign up for this class right away!  No experience is required.  Plus, you get to listen to your music when working out!

KNSFHP 1148.04 Strength Training covers proper and safe use of resistance training equipment, knowledge of major muscle groups, and the development and implementation of a personalized program for attaining individual weight training goals.  Students will meet twice a week for 55 minutes in our Fitness Laboratory on the ground floor of the PAES building.  In our Fitness Laboratory, they will have access to 4 brand new customized max-racks, a large assortment of free weights, rowers, a leg press, and more.  Beyond the academic credit, students have the potential to benefit from increased metabolism, better muscle coordination, increased bone density, and lower bad cholesterol and blood pressure.
