Sophomore Ronit Majumdar likes the opportunities afforded him with the Sport, Fitness, and Health program. He took 2 courses during the Spring ’15 semester: Yoga 1 and First Aid/CPR. Ronit, a Chemistry major and Coaching minor (wrestling), is planning a career in dentistry. He took the yoga class because he had done yoga previously and wanted to learn more and be more consistent in his practice. Having a sports background, he enjoys the “different” way to exercise, especially when it comes to stretching and increasing flexibility.
Ronit noted that this class was a nice way to start the day, and it helped him stay relaxed and calm throughout the rest of his busy day. Managing stress is another benefit of yoga that he noticed. He recommends the yoga class to others and said that Beaker Prince was a great instructor – he appreciated her calm demeanor, quirky humor, and the inclusiveness she brought to the class. Beaker recommended Ronit for this recognition because he is a “dedicated student, perfect attendance…really thinking and working to adapt poses to address challenges from previous sports training, and to apply yoga to daily life. [He] helps create a learning space for all students.”
Ronit hopes to take more SFHP classes before he graduates from OSU. “Maybe swimming,” he said. We’re sure that he’ll be a star student in that course, too!
